The cold therapy market is dominated by modified beverage coolers that
often achieve unsatisfactory results. The Cold Rush® cold therapy
system by Össur® was designed holistically to advance cold therapy
and provide successful outcomes for various treatment protocols.
We learned from customers that an ideal cold therapy system has a
few key ingredients. First and foremost is durability, both of the unit
itself and of the ice within the unit. Longer ice durability translates
into a unit that stays cooler, longer. Second, is a strong flow rate that
provides consistent cooling, even at elevated heights. Finally, it needs
to be quiet, as patients often receive cold therapy while they (or others
nearby) are resting or sleeping.
It was clear that no existing cold therapy unit was satisfying all of
these needs. Balancing these varied market demands was our mission.
